3 platforms I am 100% sure you will get clients to sell your product to.

I have been asked a lot of time how legit are these freelancing platforms. Someone went as far as asking me if I have earned on them. Hahaha, I really do not know how to answer the person because it’s like saying is my name really Bukola. What I did instead was to open one of the freelancing sites I signed up to and show them my total earning for the last few months☺.

I understand that because of the high rate of fraudsters, everybody is trying to be careful but hey, there are over 30 legit freelancing sites but I will just stick with the popular 3.

The first platform is UPWORK. I have been using Upwork for close to 8months now selling my ghostwriting skills. That’s where I get 70% of my clients from. The amazing thing about these platforms is that you do not need to source for clients on your own. All you need to do is to sign up, have a nice profile and learn how to write a good proposal and you’re good to go. Also, you can decide to create your catalog on it.

I have recommended Upwork to people and have also taken my time to teach them how to set up their profiles and write a good proposal. I have gotten a lot of works on this platform and am still getting more. Remember, it goes deeper than having an Upwork account. There are other things needed before you can start earning and guess what again? You can sell any skill you have. Have you read my previous article? It will help you know what to do. https://link.medium.com/jY4tvjuZckb

The Second platform is Fiverr. I’m sure a lot of people have heard of this platform, it’s very common and popular. The trick for Fiverr is creating a GREAT GIG FIRST. Only when you have a great gig will the client go further to check your profile. Except you were recommended. Most of the jobs on Fiverr are through gigs but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a space for “buyers requests”. I just recently (2weeks) set my Fiverr account and I have already gotten one client interested in one of my gigs (it took me one month to get one client on Upwork so it’s relieving that I didn’t have to wait that long).

While setting up your gigs, you will need to be intentional about your keywords, pictures/videos used, and how you rate your products. It’s very important to get more clicks and impressions

The third platform I will recommend is Guru. I have lots of close freelancers that make use of this platform and the price clients pay on this platform is way higher to an extend. You might want to try these 3 FREE platforms.

There are other good sites, a lot of them if I may add. Google about them and try them out.

Also, I noticed that some newbies usually get scared because of their nationality, etc. I won’t deny the fact that it’s true. Some clients will specifically name the country that can apply.

I have also seen some job descriptions where the client said “if you are from……. Do not bother applying, you are not needed”. Most times, it is because “people from that country had either scammed the client before or people from that country has done well with the client before”. Also, it can be due to the nature of the job. A client once contacted me to write a nonfiction book (self-help) for black women. She noticed I am a woman and also an African and since that’s what she wanted, she feel I am the perfect person for the job. So yeah, that’s it.

But, these situations are just 10% of the total job descriptions on the platforms. Go for the remaining 90%. I have done jobs for a client that only wanted a “native speaker” because I have evidence to back it up!

Apart from these sites, there are other ways to get clients. I will write on that soon.
